Factions is necessary if you want to be able to run competitive builds, wheras EotN really isn't. You can just buy the PvP edition if you aren't bothered about the single player campaign.

thats not because of TS, its because of where and who is hosting the TS server and the mics people are using. bad mic=bad sound

From what I've been seeing, people "Ewwww" at me when I tell them I've never talked on TS/Vent before and no way they're gonna teach me how to be a good HA player. :/
This guide is good and all to show when to HA and when not, but I fail to see any hints on becoming a better HA player. Me, as I've never been on a Ventrillo server before, have no idea what to say and what not to say during a battle in HA or GvG, and it's a bit weird to ask it. And even if I do, I mostly get kicked and laughed at.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not an idiot who doesn't know anything about strategy, but do you ask for prots on vent, or do you just call spikes or yell at each other for doing something wrong?
Do people mind if you're English speaking isn't awesome? I'm dutch, but I think I'm fairly understandable in English.
Anyways, this guide is just half-done in my opinion. I hope I eventually find someone who does care to help me up a little bit. o:

We on vent (allthough we only play GvG and don't HA), call your important stuff that needs to be removed or what's important for your team. For example, as a Warrior, call your blind/blurred/snared (in other words, everything that keeps you from doing your job). You can also suggest things to the caller if it's not a retarded prick. As a monk, for example call disabled important skills, because it makes your team aware (Diversion that hit, Power Block and on what attribute). As a ranger or mesmer call if you Dshot/Pblock important stuff, like Pblock on Aegis, Dshot on WoH.
In short, just call everything that might be important to your team (and they don't already know). Just be short and informative so you don't get your vent cluttered.

Thanks, that really gave me an idea how professional teams use their ventrillo. :]

What if I run a PvE dervish ? I assume the only efficient build one can run in PvP is conjure/WS so do I really need a lot of skills unlocked if I have those ? My bar is usually filled with dervish skills anyway.
Yeah, and are dervishes popular in Heroes' Ascent ?

good luck finding a group with a Dervish nowadays.
basically the whole point of "unlocking most skills" is to be able to play many different roles of a class. like a Warrior needs to be able to use all 3 weapons with good skill bars, as well as the occasional W/D scythe or so. or for a Ranger to be able to use proper builds like Crip Shot, Turret, etc as well as Thumper, Spear Chucker, etc.
the problem with the Dervish class is that in PvP it's a very 1 minded profession. Wounding Strike, Wounding Strike and more Wounding Strike. the Avatar's are bad in PvP due to the long cast time(interrupt bait) and longer cooldown in which you're like half as effective. other skills like Reaper's Sweep(inferior to Wounding in most PvP situations) and others like Zealous Sweep are very PvE Oriented.
so the Dervish is an exception to the above rule of unlocking most skills due to its 1 mindedness, however this same reason also makes it a very unpopular profession. hence if you do wish to play HA in a Dervish you must play a guild/friend balanced group, as a Dervish just doesnt fit in any of the current PuG/Gimmick builds.

This is what i find quiet funny about ha these days. Back when guild wars was released, the core/ old school players where the benchmark for ha. Now all of the old school players are drifted off to do there own thing (9gvg, hb or ga), hence the players ranked between 5-12 have to put up with pve scrubs that think that there all that in ha which in fact drive u insane that they can't sync in spikes or listen to the caller. When it was double ha few weeks ago, it was funny how many random ways there where and could not control what a controlled sync spike team can do to. There has to be a way where you can make a district of just ha players ranked 5 and above that can form without noobs or unranked and can form proper teams.
Hate noobs (sry 2 disapoint if ur 1)

Now all of the "old school" users have drifted off, doing their own thing(learning grammars, reasoning and logic). Hence the "old school" have put up with the "new school" users for quite some time now. There has to be a way to be a member on a forum without noobs and "new school" users.
Hate noobs(sorry to disappoint you if you are one).

also without all this new blood, even though most of it is scrub, HA would be even more dead than it is now...
old timers won't be coming back to HA anytime soon, infact there are more of what you consider "good HA players" that leave every day than "good players" who stay actively at it. so if you still want to play and enjoy it than you need these new blooders more than they need you...

Well, I've been playing HA for a while now, and it baffles me what's going on there...
For instance, I was going as an LC Snare Necro, and nobody would accept me into their group, because I am only halfway to r2.
Then, by accident, I did get into a r10 group, and they did not ask for my rank, which I found weird. Anyway, I of course happily went along with them, and after winning several times, I asked them if they liked the way I played.
They were all saying wow yes, you're a very good LC Necro! Oh btw, what's your rank we forgot to ask...
I told them I was only halfway to r2.
They yelled NOOOB at me, and kicked me out.
It felt really bad, and I logged off for a day. Then I rerolled as an iway warrior, and am trying to get rank that way, because OBVIOUSLY no matter how good you play, if you don't have a rank, you're nobody.
I have been trying to find a good HA guild too, in-game and here on Guru too, and again, noone would even consider me. Over 45 views on my LF HA Guild topic in PvP LF Guild forum section, and not one invite...
I am honest, work hard in HA, learn things very fast, and don't act like a noob whatsoever.
Do I have extremely bad luck, or is this the "welcome to HA" message I'm getting?

Unfortunately "honest" doesn't really work in HA. Just try to hide your rank and do iway or whatever to rank up and as stated a billion times before, try to make a friend list. it's the only way to go.
rank doesn't get you anywhere but a f-list does which is better than all the noob r9's these days.
